My Story

It all started in 1993 when I was 13 years old, I applied at a local Construction company and got a job for the summer. I carried shingles up to the roof, dug holes, and mostly cleaned up and stacked lumber. Long days in the summer heat. But I was hooked! I loved building. I worked in construction every summer, all through high school. I eventually worked with my Grandpa who was an experienced carpenter of many years. He built over 300 homes in the locality. Working with him taught me a lot about doing an honest days work. Eventually work dried up and I made the move to Red Deer, Alberta.

That's when I pursued a career as a welder/fabricator. I went to Red Deer College, became a Red Seal Journeyman, and worked at the trade for 14 years. But I always remembered my "first love", carpentry. I would always be doing projects around the house, and reading about home design.

Then one day I was given an opportunity I couldn't refuse. A friend who owned a construction company was having trouble finding reliable employees. I accepted his offer and the rest was history.  After working on the tools for a few years I ended up being Project Manager, having 7 or 8 projects on the go at once. Mostly bathroom and kitchen renos, some decks, and occasionally an entire house gut job. I loved every minute of it.

Since then I have gone to Red Deer College again. This time for carpentry. I ended up working for a custom builder for 3 years in Central Alberta. Managing small projects and taking care of warranty work.

So far I have accumulated over 15 years of renovation experience and have over 28 years in the trades. I am now a Journeyman Carpenter.

You might wonder if I'm getting tired of this work, but actually, its just the opposite! Each day is a new challenge, and every project is unique. Having started my own company has been very rewarding.

I love working with clients and discussing their projects and ideas. It might sound a bit cliché but I help their dream become a reality. Can't beat that for job satisfaction!

If you've read all the way here so far, thank you!  I'd encourage you to contact me about your next project. Hope to hear from you!
